Account deletion
Delete your Idle Forge account
Introduction
Idle Forge stores your game progress in the cloud so you can continue playing across devices.
You can permanently delete your Idle Forge account, your cloud save and the data that belongs to them, in two ways.
Delete your account in the game
Available from Idle Forge 1.13.0. On an earlier version, update the game or ask us by email (below).
- Open Settings.
- Choose Delete account.
- Read what will be deleted, and confirm.
The game then deletes your account, signs you out and removes the game data on this device. The game shows you when the deletion is complete. Starting the game again later creates a new, empty account.
Or ask us by email
Use this if you no longer have the game installed or cannot open it. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete their child's account in the same way.
Email: support@pietersstudios.com
Subject: Account Deletion Request
Please include:
- Platform (iOS or Android)
- Your player support ID. You find it in the game under Settings; starting the email from Settings, Contact Us adds it for you
- Your player name in the game
- Whether the game is linked to Game Center or Google Play Games
We may ask you to confirm the request from the device you play on, so that nobody else can delete your account. We complete the deletion within 30 days and email you when your account has been deleted.
What will be deleted
The following data will be permanently removed:
- Your game account and player name
- Cloud save: player progression, inventory, equipment, currencies, unlocks and game settings stored in the cloud
- The link between your game account and Game Center or Google Play Games: it no longer leads to your account at once, and the platform name stored with it is removed the next time that platform account is used with Idle Forge (or when it is linked to a new game account). The link record itself is kept; see "What is kept" below
- Your friends list. You also disappear from your friends' lists
- Your online status and your public Hero profile
- Your invite code and the records of who invited whom that name you
- Your push notification tokens
- Your age record (your age band, where it came from and when and, if you answered while under 18, the month from which you count as 18), and any record of a parent's approval for chat, including the identifiers Apple gave to the game's installation
- Your store-check record (which platform your last proven app store age check came from and when), any one-time check codes not yet used, and the links between your account and App Attest keys on iPhone and iPad. A key that no other game account uses is deleted too
- Your report status lines in Forge Chat › Activity
- On the device: the game data. When Google Analytics is running on the device at that moment, the game also resets its analytics identifier, so new analytics data cannot be connected to the old
Clans
If you are in a clan, we remove you from it. If you lead it, the next member in line becomes Lead; a clan with no other members is closed. In your current clan, the Clan Chat messages you wrote are hidden straight away, your name and avatar are removed from them and from the clan's activity, and the messages are deleted for good when the chat period ends after 7 days. Messages and activity in clans you left earlier keep your name until they expire (chat after 7 days, activity after 14 days). Your blocks and your Community Rules agreement are deleted. If another player had blocked you, their block list shows "Unavailable player" instead of your name.
The messages you wrote in World Chat are hidden straight away and your name, avatar and text are removed from them; they are deleted for good when the World Chat period ends, at most 72 hours after they were sent. A message another player reported, or that an open moderation case uses, keeps its text, hidden, until it is no longer needed.
Reports made by you or about you, moderation cases (with a copy of the reported content and the messages around it) and the moderation log are kept after your account is deleted for the rest of their normal period, because other players' safety depends on them; the periods are listed under "What is kept" below. They are then deleted automatically. Evidence we have reported to the police is kept until the police no longer need it.
Your entries in the weekly leaderboards, the Power Ranking and the activity feed are removed when your account is deleted. In finished Forge Together events your place stays in the results, so other players' ranks do not change, but it shows as "Deleted player" without your name.
Other players' own records keep a coded account identifier without your name: who invited them, an invite reward they received, a clan's weekly total and its war history (35 and 120 days), and who muted or hid a chat message (until that record expires).
What is kept, and for how long
Some records are kept after deletion, because the law requires it or because they are needed to handle refunds, keep other players safe or make the deletion stick. None of them contains your player name.
- Purchases: a record of each purchase (the store's transaction number, the product, the date and whether it was refunded), no longer linked to your account by name or account identifier, with a coded (hashed) reference to the deleted account so that we can handle refunds, chargebacks and disputes: up to 7 years after the end of the year of purchase, because Dutch tax law requires us to keep our administration for that period.
- Moderation records: moderation cases up to 180 days, or until the period for appealing the decision has ended; reports (with a short excerpt of the reported content) and the moderation log up to 180 days. Your strike history and chat standing are deleted with your account. If a case was reported to the police or another authority, its evidence is kept for as long as that authority needs it.
- A deletion note: the account identifier and the date of deletion (nothing else), so the account cannot come back to life and nothing we keep is linked to a new account. It is deleted two years after the deletion.
- A withdrawn approval: if a parent or guardian withdrew their approval for chat through Apple, a note that the approval for that installation of the game was withdrawn, without any link to your account, so that the same approval cannot be used again.
- Sign-in link records: the record that linked your Game Center, Google Play Games or Google sign-in, or your device's sign-in identity, to the deleted account. It holds the platform's player identifier and the deleted account identifier, no longer leads to any game account, and is kept so that the deleted account is never created again from the same sign-in. The platform name stored with it is removed the next time that platform account is used with Idle Forge.
- Server logs: 30 days. They identify a player only by a shortened one-way hash and do not contain your IP address.
- Emails with our support team, including your deletion request: 2 years after the last message, as proof that we handled your request.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in encrypted backups for up to 35 days before it is overwritten.
Records of refunds stored with your account (what was taken back and your balances) are deleted with the account.
Usage statistics and crash reports held by our analytics and diagnostics providers do not contain your player name or your player account identifier, and we do not use them to find your account. They expire on their own: analytics data after 14 months, crash and error reports in Sentry after 30 days, and crash reports in Firebase Crashlytics after 90 days.
Any retained data will not be used for gameplay.
Processing time
Deletion in the game happens straight away. Requests by email are completed within 30 days; we email you when it is done. After that, deleted data disappears from our backups within 35 days.
Important notice
Deleting your cloud save is permanent.
This action cannot be undone and your game progress cannot be restored afterwards.

FAQ
Can I recover my account after deletion?
No. Account deletion is permanent.
Does deleting the app delete my cloud save?
No. Deleting the app only removes local data. A separate deletion request is required to remove cloud data.
What information do I need to provide?
In the game: nothing, you are already signed in. By email: your platform and your player support ID from the game's Settings. Your player name helps us confirm we found the right account.
What about my Game Center or Google Play Games account?
Deleting your Idle Forge account removes the link to it. Your Apple or Google account itself is not affected.
